About Us:
Rooted in technical training, Scota Karate is a certified training academy with the World Tang Soo Do Association. Our students succeed through encouragement and our individualized teaching methods. They achieve success through constant reinforcement and positivity. Scota Karate instructors are built from a long legacy, spanning across three generations of students who were raised within the academy. At SKA you are surrounded by peers and instructors who emphasize the importance of overcoming obstacles in order to grow.
Our History:
Academy owner Joe Scota first dove into martial arts because his son wanted to start training. Joe’s natural leadership abilities and skills shone through, and what started as a family activity became so much more. In 1988, Joe began to teach martial arts and in 1993 he took his skills to South Carolina, where he opened SKA. By being a martial arts instructor he was able to cover the cost of martial arts classes for his three children too. Since opening, Joe and Scota Karate have become an important part of the local community. He continues to live out his passion to watch his students grow and succeed.
